31 Day Challenge: Day 25, Inspired by fashion

Today's theme is Inspired By Fashion.

I am by no means a person who is into fashion. My usual "style" is jeans and a t-shirt, usually from somewhere like Threadless. So when I was browsing, I find a few people doing this needle-drag tie-dye pattern and decided to use that at my inspiration for today.

To do this mani, you need to paint thick stripes of the colors you want to use. Do this fast! As soon as you finish the last color, use a toothpick/needle/fine point of an orange stick/anything pointy and gently drag through all the layers. This is a messy mani to do. Since I painted on the colors so quickly/thickly, I got quite a bit on my skin and cuticles. The blue and red were stubborn in coming off even with scrubbing with a nail brush so I have some staining.

I will try this again, but I think with less colors so I don't have to move as fast.

Here are the colors I used in case you are interested.
Red: Zoya Sooki
Orange: Zoya Arizona
Yellow: OPI The "It" Color
Green: OPI Don't Mess With OPI
Blue: Sinful Colors Why Not?
(I didn't have room to put on the purple).

31 Day Challenge: Day 12, Stripes

Today's challenge is Stripes.

I was originally going to do something like this for today's challenge, but after I picked out my colors I decided to change it up and I'm glad I did.

I started off with 3 coats of OPI The "It" Color. Then I used striping tape to mark off the rays and put on 1 coat of Zoya Arizona. I love the look that turned out. It's like a sun and super appropriate for summer.

31 Day Challenge: Day 3, Yellow

The theme for today's challenge is Yellow.
I don't own many yellows (I think it's only 3 as a matter of fact), but I totally thought that Butter London Bumster still fit the bill. I managed to snag this polish when Butter London did a deal not too long ago where all polishes were 40% off. Since I'm a sucker for the dusky/fall colors, I had to get this one.
I added on this very dainty gold nail art stickers that I had. They were a bit hard to photograph since the gold color was a bit close to Bumster.

This last picture is the most color accurate photograph of Bumster. It's this really nice light mustardy yellow with some hints of tan thrown in. I LOVE these ugly colors. I'm too scared to wear them for my clothing, but on nails they are a small risk. Plus I think they look great with my skin tone.

Candeo Colors Jellybean

Jellybean is the other Candeo Colors I managed to snag when she had a sale on her full size polishes. However, I've since received the 2 minis I've also managed to get in her latest sale which was minis only (I also got 5 others, but those were for some of my blogging friends).

Jellybean is a such an amazing indie polish. The base is wonderfully opaque.  The glitter is very nicely suspended, and I never had to dig it out. It wasn't goopy and had a good dry time. Candeo Colors certainly know what she is doing in creating her indie polishes.

This closeup is awesome (other than the Seche Vite pull) because it shows the layers of glitter. I love how some are brighter and right on top and some are more sandwiched in the middle and paler. It creates a really nice looking polish.

Monday Mani: Flowers

I know, I know! I haven't done one of these in forever! Well, I'm back to it. Today's theme was flowers, and I decided to incorporate stamping since I haven't done that in while.

For the base, I used two coats of China Glaze Trendsetter. Then I used BM-224 to stamp on the flower image. I know some people are huge fans of Trendsetter, but I love it. With the stamping on it like this, I think it adds at retro 70s look to it that is great.

Bananas

My next Food Nail Art Design was inspired by Emily's Nail Files.

I used China Glaze For Audrey as my base coat. I love the color and it's super universal.

I really like the way this turned out. My ring finger is my favorite.

Peeps

For day 3 of my Food/Easter series, I have that iconic Easter treat: Peeps. Now, I'm not a big fan of Peeps. In fact, I think they are rather gross tasting, but I do think they are cute!

Here are the colors that I used:
Base coat: one thick coat of Sally Hansen Green with Envy.
Blue peep: Sinful Colors Why Not
Purple peep: Rimmel Wild Orchid
Yellow peep: Maybelline Sunshine
Pink peep: Pure Ice Peony
Peeps logo: Sinful Colors Why Not and Maybelline Sunshine

Monday Mani: Food!!!

Today's Monday Mani theme at Polish-aholics Anonymous is Food. I was looking through all of my saved pictures at Pinterest for ideas and found that I had a hard time picking just one. So I decided to pick all of them! LOL. Not all at one time though. I loved doing the Green series so I've decided to work on a nail art series about Food, which is another of my passions.

Today I choose to do popcorn nails.

The base is 2 coats of Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. Then I used Zoya Sooki for the red stripes. For the actual popcorn, I dotted on 3 dots in a cluster using Maybelline Sunshine. Then I swirled in some white to add dimension.

Look, I even did my right hand and have a picture for you all! (Please ignore the super short index finger--it broke super low. And the awkward pose--it's hard to take a picture of your right hand with a DSLR.)

Monday Mani: Crackle

At Polish-aholics Anonymous this week's Monday Mani is Crackle. A lot of the girls over there wanted to bring it back since they have so many crackles. Personally, I wasn't really into polish big time until after the trend so I'm not over it yet!

I've seen this idea several places and really wanted to try it so I thought now would be the perfect time!

This look is fairly easy and actually took less time that I thought! I simply painted rainbow stripes using my polish choices and a small paintbrush, let it dry, put on my crackle,. and tada! I choose to do the whole rainbow from my cuticle and use horizontal stripes, but you could pick just a few colors or do vertical stripes. What's even better is that you don't have to be perfect with the lines. The crackle covers it up!

You could use any colors you want, but in case you are wondering here are the ones I used:
Pure Ice Siren (red), Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up (orange), Maybelline Sunshine (yellow), OPI Don't Mess with OPI (green), Sinful Colors Why Not (blue), and Rimmel Wild Orchid (purple). The crackle is Pure Ice Black Crackle, and I added some glitter on top using INM Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat Silver.

What about you all? Are you tired of the crackle trend yet, or do you still love it?
