Shiny Star Mani and Born Pretty Store Review

Hey all! I'm back! I really needed that break and I'm feeling much better about things from the blogging end. I see a lost a few followers too, oh well!

Today I have a review from Born Pretty Store of two different items (disclosure policy). Today I'm reviewing some gold studs and loose glitter.

I decided to use the glitter a bit differently and made star decals (check out my Instagram @rubytadpole for a little tutorial on how I did this!). I layered those and the gold studs on top of Barry M Blueberry. I loved how it turned out and the stud stayed on surprisingly well through diaper changes and all that.

31 Day Challenge, Part 2!: Day 31, Recreate a Manicure

For the final mani of this challenge, I decided to recreate Geeky Owl's Inspired by Fashion mani. I did change things up a bit and still tried to fit in with the Valentine's Day theme I've been rolling with.

My base coat is 2 coats of O.P.I. DS Opulence. It's a very pretty mauve-ish color with some holographic glitter. The color is sort of a neutral color.

I got my glequins from the dollar store. They came in these cute little glass jars and had 8 different colors in a pack. Not bad for a $1! They are pretty tiny though, but I think I like them at this size.

I did different designs on each nail including a cute little heart on the pinkie for Valentine's Day. I think I like how the middle and pinkie fingers turned out best.

Check out some other recreated manis for the final day of the challenge!

New Year's Eve

A super quick post because we've got friends coming over in about 45 minutes, and I have some last minute cleaning to do along with starting to cook dinner!

Since it's New Year's Eve, I needed to bling it up, even if I'm not going out.

I started out with a base of my favorite black, Wet N Wild Black Creme. I really need to buy more of this. It's cheap, goes on in 1 thick coat, dries well, and is good for stamping. What more could you want?
Then I added my new favorite, INM's Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat Silver.

It really is amazing. I used two coats on each finger. My pinkie looks like it has more, but it just applied that way. Over black, this glitter seems like a starry sky.

Well, I couldn't stop there, so I added more sparkles.

First I put on Barry M Limited Edition Effects Silver Glitter. I tried sponging it on, but it turned a bit white (look at the pinkie nail). So I tried a different technique. I place a thick line at the top of my nail, like you would with a french manicure. Then I wiped off the brush in the bottle and pulled the color back towards the cuticle. Tada!

As if that wasn't enough, I added Sally Girl Chunky Silver Glitter over the whole nail. I didn't take a picture before I added the Sally Girl so you the pictures look the same. Buuuutttt....the Sally Girl is big hexgaon/round pieces and some smaller chunks as well.

Hope you all like it!

Happy New Year to those who are already past midnight, and Happy New Year's Eve to those who have yet to celebrate. 2012 can only bring good things.

Halloween

Here's two Halloween nail designs that I have done. They are inspired by the many of designs floating around on other nail blogs.
Frankenstein's monster nails
The base is Sally Hansen Green with Envy, and black is Sinful colors nail art polish in Time Out. The green glitter is real glitter! I put down a base of O.P.I. Cuckoo for This Color just to make sure no nail bed showed. Then I put down a clear coat and dumped on the glitter. I followed it up with 2 coats of Seche Vite, but it still was super bumpy.

Various Halloween creatures
Not my favorite manicure, but I really like the vampire and mummy. Used lots of colors on this one.
Mummy: Migi nail art pen for white, Pure Ice Siren (red), Sinful Colors Nirvana (sponged on brown), Sinful Colors Black on Black.
Cat: Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sally Hansen Green with Envy, Pure Ice Peony (pink nose), Wet n Wild Metallica (silver)
Vampire: Migi nail art pen for white, Pure Ice Siren, Sinful Colors Black on Black
Witch: Sinful Colors Mint Apple (skin), Sinful Colors Amethyst (hat), Sinful Colors Black on Black, Revlon Gold Coin
Ghost: Migi nail art pen for white & Sinful Colors Black on Black
Whew! I think that's it.
