Penguins | Tonic Polish Santa Baby

When I saw photos of Tonic Polish Santa Baby in the Tonic FB fan group, I immediately knew that I needed it. Luckily for me, it was still in stock (it's available as of writing this post as well!) 

I ordered it with plenty of time to arrive before Christmas, but USPS "lost" it for a bit so I didn't get it until Christmas Eve. Fortunately, the color is so gorgeous that I didn't mind using it after the holidays :)

 Santa Baby is a stunning red holographic. The formula is amazing and applied so well. I needed two coats, but didn't have to do any clean up.

I added some adorable penguins using the advanced stamping technique and plate BP-137.

Winter/Christmas Nails 2018: Snowman Nails

Sorry I was absent for a lot of November. I was very busy with my small business, and my husband had surgery. Life seems to have calmed down now so I'm back with a bunch of manis for December.

For today, I have these cute snowman nails. I've seen these around Pinterest, and I decided to do them myself.

Double Challenge Day featuring Snow Man Nail Art

Today's challenge for the Polish-Aholics Anonymous Winter 2013 Challenge is Inspired by a Holiday Movie. I'm also participating in the Nail Polish Canada 2013 Holiday Nail Art Challenge. The first week's theme is Snow. I decided to combine the two ideas and did Frosty the Snowman nails.

I was inspired by a post I saw on Pinterest and created this.

31 Day Challenge, Part 2!: Day 7, Black and White Nails

Just a quick post for today. I did these ahead of time because we had a family Christmas party on Sunday, and I wanted to wear something festive.

The base coat on this mani is Orly Androgynie. I used 2 coats here. Then I stamped using Konad White and plates BM-14, BM-319, and BM-323. I topped it with Sally Hansen fast drying top coat and then added Essie Matte About You.

31 Day Challenge, Part 2!: Day 5, Blue Nails

I didn't have time to do all the manis I wanted to before Christmas, but since it's still winter here (and will be for a while!) I figured that it would still be okay for this mani. I was inspired by this mani from Nail Polish Wars. 

To fit today's theme, I used A-England Tristam for my base except on my ring finger. On my ring finger, I used a base of Essie Marshmallow followed by Glitter Gal Light as a Feather.

For the snowflakes, I first painted on white polish then followed it up with Light as a Feather.  The black on the snowman is Hits Zeus.

Snowy tree

Once again, I sought inspiration for today's mani, but it's perfect for today since we got dumped on with snow by winter storm Draco yesterday. We got at least a foot of snow!  This time it came from a pin that I found.  Instead of using red like in the picture, I decided to go with a green since that's my favorite polish color! While looking over the greens that I had, I wanted to do something a bit different than the traditional Christmas green.  When I saw Zoya Bevin, I knew that it was the perfect color!

I used two coats of Zoya Bevin as the base.  I free handed the snow and tree using Rimmel French White Nail Tip Liner. Just like the other tree mani I did, I didn't use tape for the tree though I should have.  I really like how this turned out though! In Wisconsin, we have long winters so I might have to revisit this idea sometime again.

Naild'It Snow Flake Cake

I was given Naild'It Snow Flake Cake a while ago by a friend but was waiting for the appropriate time to wear it. Since it's winter now, I think it's time!

I knew I wanted to layer this polish, but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to use as the undies so I broke out a nail wheel and a bunch of polishes.

From left to right, we have Zoya Isla, Zoya Arizona, Sinful Colors Amethyst, FingerPaints Art You Blue?, Nicole by OPI Khloe Had a Lam-Lam, China Glaze Exotic Encounters, Sinful Color Leap Flog, Rimmel Black Satin, Sally Hansen Gunmetal, Sinful Colors Slate, and 2 coats and 1 coat of Snow Flake Cake on it's own.

Here's the combo I finally chose to do on my nails.

It was a bit difficult to photograph, but you can see all the awesome glitters in the bottle shot below.

This last one is a bit blurry, but you can see the great holographic glitter that way.

My base color was Sinful Colors Slate which you can on its own below.

24 Days of Christmas Challenge, Day 6: Penguins

I have both hands to show you today.

Here's my left hand (the one you normally see).

Sorry for the cuticles on this one. They looked cleaned up better in person. Also, that's not tip wear on the penguin but pulling from Seche Vite.

I used Wet N Wild Black Creme, Finger Paints Paper Mache (white), Wet N Wild Sunny Side Up (nose & feet), O.P.I. Cuckoo For This Color (bow tie and stamping), and Bundle Monster plate BM201

This is my right hand. It's not nearly as good as the other. The female penguin looks wonky, plus my stamping is a bit off, and half my nails are broken. Poor right hand.

I used the same colors as listed above except I used CQ Crimson Pearl for the stamping and hair bow.

24 Days of Christmas Challenge, Day 4: Snowman

 For the base, I used Rimmel Chill and 2 coats. It worked out better for me than the last time I used it.

 Then I put on 1 coat of Wet N Wild Blue Wants to be a Millionaire to add some glitter to background. Besides, who doesn't like glitter?

I added in all the details with a variety of colors, stamping tools, and a tiny brush.

24 Days of Christmas, Day 3: Icicles

I was having a hard time trying to figure out what I wanted to do for this since I really didn't think I could draw them very well.  Well, I decided to try this idea done by Practice with Polish. I think I did a really good job!

First, I used a base of Finger Paints Sparkle Top Coat to add shimmer and cover up my nail bed a bit. Then I used Rimmel French White Nail Tip Liner to free hand some french tips. It was really easy with this!

To do the actual icicles, I used a dotting tool, but you could also used a toothpick or a bobby pin. I placed a small dot on the end of the white and pulled it down toward my cuticle. I swiggled some to make sure they were imperfect.

Next, I used a small brush to put glitter over the icicles to add some shine like when the sun shines on them. The color is Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty. I followed it up with Seche Vite.

It's not my favorite design, but I think I pulled it off!

24 Days of Christmas, Day 2: Snowflakes

I really love the way this manicure turned out!  My right hand, of course, is not as nice but still looks pretty good. My husband said I should hide that hand. Jerk.

After my base coat, I used two coats of China Glaze Sea Spray. I really like the color, but my bottle is pretty thin so it's fairly easy to flood the cuticles.

Then I used a coat of Finger Paints Sparkle Top Coat to add some nice subtle shininess.

Then I used my white Migi nail art pen to draw on the snowflakes. You can put them all in the middle of your nail, but I choose to make them off center.

I added small dots of clear coat on the nail and put light blue rhinestones on there.

Finally, I topped it all off with 2 thick coats of Seche Vite.

24 Days of Christmas Challenge, Day 1: Snowfall

This is a great challenge that Paint That Nail came up with!

I normally don't do challenges, but I thought I would do this one was I have soooo many ideas that I want to do for Christmas so this would give me the chance to showcase all of them!

I'm not sure who is all participating (other than Paint That Nail) but I'll link to others as soon as I find out.

I only have 1 picture because it was dark when I took the pictures, and even my DSLR was having a hard time.

Snowfall

I used several different colors for this. Base is 2 coats of Revlon Blue Lagoon. Then I used Sally Hansen Ice Queen to add some sparkle. Next, I sponged on some Finger Paints Paper Mache with a cosmetic sponge, dabbed on some with a Q-tip to give texture, and added some dots for snowflakes falling.  Finally I sponged on some Finger Paints Sparkle Top Coat just over the accumulated snow to add more sparkle.

This didn't turn out quite like I planned it, but I still really like it!
